Conjunctions

Conjunctions are the words to connect words or sentences.

　

And →　〜と（~to）、そして（soshite）

・〜と（~to）is used to connect words.

       apples and strawberries →　りんご　と　いちご　（ringo to ichigo）

       paper and pens →　かみ　と　ぺん（kami to pen）

・そして（soshite）is used to connect sentences.

        I like to eat sushi and my husband likes to eat it,too. →　わたしはすしをたべるのがすきです。そして、

        わたしのおっともすしをたべるのがすきです。(watashiwa sushio taberunoga sukidesu     sosite watashino ottomo susio taberunoga sukidesu)

　

But →　しかし（shikashi）、だが（~daga）、が（ga）

These three are not so much different for usage.　However が（ga）is attached to the last words mostly while  しかし(shikashi)、だが(daga)　are used separately from sentences.

　ex. I went to the library today but the library was not open. →　わたしはきょう、としょかんへいきました。

　　　しかし（だが）、としょかんはあいていませんでした。わたしはきょう、としょかんへいったが、としょかんはあい　　

　　　ていなかった。
