Word order(ごじゅん)

 

We've been learning some parts of speech so far. Though there are some more parts of speech, let's see the difference of word order between Japanese and English by simple sentences.

 

In Japanese verbs usually come at the end of the sentence.

 

1. 〜です(desu) sentence

 I mentioned 〜です (desu) in verb's section.

       〜です =  be-verbs  present(am,are,is)

for example

I am a student.  →  わたしは がくせい です。(watashiwa gakusei desu)

                                                                   I                  a student           am

 

You are kind.   →  あなたは しんせつ です。(anatawa shinsetu desu)

           you                kind               are

 

She is a nurse.  → かのじょは かんごふ です。(kanojowa kangofu desu)

           she                    a nurse            is

 

 

2. general verbs' sentence

 

for example

 

I go to school. →  わたしは がっこうへ いきます。(watashiwa gakkoue ikimasu)

                                    I                  to school            go

 

 

She is eating bread. → かのじょは ぱんを たべています。(kanojowa pano tabeteimasu)

                                                                she              bread        is eating

 

 

He has a new camera. → かれは あたらしい カメラを もっています。(karewa atarashii kamera o

                                                              he                 new                 camera             has

motteimasu.)
